nice to meet you!

My name is Marie Pape.*

I am an illustrator and designer born in Germany,
and currently based in Scotland.

One of my favourite parts of illustration is storytelling.
I enjoy introspective, detailed drawings paired with autobiographical stories or poetry, as well as more silly characters and comics. I also love combining drawing
with graphic design and typography: making books, posters,
or album cover art.

A young woman with long red curly hair and tattoos is lying on a dark rug, holding a paintbrush in one hand and a notebook with a bunny drawing in the other. Around her are art supplies, including watercolor paints, a notebook with a face drawing, and paintbrushes. She is wearing a striped blue shirt, green pants with patches, and blue shoes. In the background, there is a blue dog curled up and sleeping on a green cushion.

This is what I really look like.

I started studying Visual Communication in 2019 at the Braunschweig University of Art (HBK), near where I grew up.
My focus here was mostly on Illustration and Graphic Design modules, before coming to Dundee’s Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design for an exchange semester in 2022, studying Illustration.

I enjoyed the course so much that I fully transferred to DJCAD in 2023 and moved to Scotland, where I graduated in 2025 with a First Class Honours in Illustration and was awarded The Crighton Bequest award for Graphic Design & Illustration.

*Why my page has a different name: I used to think my name was pretty boring, so once some of my friends started calling me Muri, it stuck. “Rabbitheart” is a reference to my own rabbit heart , and my way of embracing it (I made a comic about this!).

Really, it just sounds much cooler and more whimsical than what’s on my passport.
